An Investigation of Student Engagement in a “211†University in Western China

Abstract


Based on the data from ''China College Students Survey, CCSS'' conducted in 2015, this study takes an undergraduates of a ''211''university in Western China, this research intends to investigation the characteristics of student engagement based on five indices. Through comparative analysis on the five indices of student engagement revealed that there is still a certain gap compare the western university with the “985†universities and the “211†universities. As a result, some suggestions have been given to address the issues raised as to further enhance the “student-faculty interaction†and the solutions for relatively low engagement of students.
