AP Deployment Based on Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm in VANETs

Abstract


Although there are more vehicles in city environment than highway environment, the obstacles and traffic lights in city become the important impact to make the network with the poor connectivity. Poor connectivity will cause time delay, and it is one big problem in some applications of VANET like some real time services, so we need improve the connectivity of the network under urban scenario by adding access point (AP). This paper will give one fast and efficient access point (AP) deployment algorithm based on the traffic flow and the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm. The simulations show that the proposed algorithm can reduce the number of APs and guarantee the connectivity, and also improve the network performance such as time delay, packet loss rate and the throughput.
