Experiment and Simulation Researches of Supercavitation Phenomenon in Concrete Penetration Process

Abstract


To reveal whether supercavitation phenomenon can realize in concrete penetration process or not, the concrete penetration experiment and simulation works are performed. Firstly, low speed (382m/s) and high speed (839m/s) concrete penetration experiments by ogival projectile are carried out to observe the supercavitation phenomenon. Secondly, concrete penetration simulations under two kinds of speed are performed, and the validity of simulations are proved by experiment’s results. Finally, a very high speed (1500m/s) concrete penetration simulation is performed to observe the supercavitation phenomenon. The results show that supercavitation phenomenon does not arise in low speed (382m/s) and high speed (839m/s) concrete penetration, but arises in a very high speed (1500m/s) concrete penetration, also local cavitation and none cavitation arise in penetration process at different speeds.
