Investigation of Electrochemical Corrosion Properties of Austentic Stainless Steel
Abstract
Intergranular corrosion is an important aspect of austenitic stainless steel corrosion. Two different austenitic stainless steel (304, 306) were tested under RCC-M 1310 Sensitization standard. Intergranular corrosion of sensitized samples was observed by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy and the degree of sensitization was tested by DL-EPR test. The results showed that both 304 and 316 stainless steel with higher carbon content were more prone to intergranular corrosion under RCC-M 1310 Sensitization standard.
