Abstract

During WWII, on the lessons of wars with China and Russia, Japan, by learning from German's propaganda policy through films, coined what-so-called “National Policy on Filmâ€, which was “Japanese Cinema Law†issued in 1939. Under the policy, Japan made a great number of “Films of National Policyâ€, like war-oriented films, anti-spy films, films on patriotism and recruitment, on home-front industries and oversea colonialism. They were all products of that period for the purpose of propagandizing and serving the war started by Japan. Because their aim was beguiling people home and abroad and justifying the war, which caused those films were low-level, on not only ideology but art.
