The Discord that “Maketh a Comely Concordanceâ€â€“An Analysis of the Closing Scene of The Merchant of Venice
Abstract
The closing scene of The Merchant of Venice which is full of discord and disharmony is often considered to be problematic and unwanted. However, it is indispensable to both the previous scenes and the development of the whole play due to its dramatic function and significance and in that the seeming discord in it makes the concord to the play as a whole.
